Dr. Blanca Fernandez at Highland Dental Clinic

Blanca Fernandez, DMD, is a highly skilled dentist trained in the most important dental services people ask for. Of course, she provides outstanding general and preventive care, using gentle techniques like intraoral cameras, no bigger than pens, to look at each and every tooth in detail. She uses metal-free dental restorations because of their strength, health benefits, and superior appearance. If it’s necessary to extract a tooth, she uses new techniques to preserve the bone in your jaw as much as possible. This is called atraumatic extraction and can incorporate methods such as bone grafting to prevent deterioration in the strength of your jaw. If that happens, the skin and muscles of your face can begin to sag, so she plans your treatment to avoid muscle and bone weakening.

Soon after Covid 19 pandemic started, Dr. Fernandez did much education on infection control and created a video named “Safety First” to give up-to-date information to the patients and the general population.

Dr. Fernandez continued her education and received her certification in Laser Diode for soft tissues. This is a new technology approved by FDA to solve gingival and oral problems, like decay detection, tooth sensitivity, cold sores, and many others.

Education and Experience You Can Rely On

Dr. Fernandez studied general dentistry at the Colombian Dental College and prosthodontics (dentures, implants, crowns, and bridges) at the Dentistry Foundation of San Martin in Bogota, Colombia, where she received a Master of Science degree. She then studied at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where she earned her Doctorate in Dental Medicine (DMD).

Continuing education is a mandate for all healthcare professionals, but Dr. Fernandez goes above and beyond what is required and has extended her expertise with specialized training in dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, and oral surgery for procedures such as wisdom tooth extractions.

Gentle Care in a Warm, Friendly Environment

Dr. Fernandez is also a mother as well as a consummate professional. She knows the importance of a gentle hand and touch and understands that dental health and oral care are best served in a warm and kind environment. She backs up her philosophy with outstanding technique, continual training, and up-to-date technology.
