Dental anesthesia and sedation to ensure a positive experience at the dental office
At Highland Dental Clinic, we are committed to helping you make dental care a routine part of your overall healthcare. Unfortunately, many patients in the South Lakeland, Florida, area may have dental anxiety that keeps them from getting the necessary care they need. Whether patients fear a painful procedure or are worried about having anxiety with someone in their personal space, we understand that this can keep patients from our practice. However, we make everyone feel comfortable the minute they step into our office, and we proudly utilize dental anesthesia and sedation to put patients at ease about their upcoming dental appointment.
How we guarantee you’ll be relaxed and at ease in the dental chair
We know that dental anxiety can build up and cause patients to avoid seeing their dentist for even the most routine treatments, such as a dental examination or dental cleaning. We understand and can help make your visits more enjoyable. This may include the use of dental anesthetics and oral sedation.
- Dental anesthetics. At Highland Dental Clinic, we use local anesthetics to numb the specific area where we are working to prevent any pain and discomfort for our patients. This is often administered for patients who are having procedures such as extractions, root canal therapy, or cavity fillings. Using an injectable anesthetic, we can numb the treatment area by blocking the nerves and allowing for several hours of numbness to ensure comfort from start to finish.
- Oral conscious sedation. If you find yourself even too anxious to make it to your dental appointment, we may prescribe an oral conscious sedation medication designed to relax you before you even arrive. This sedation does require patients to arrange transportation to and from their appointment, as they should not be driving while the sedation is in effect.
